Rob Ladd

aka Cowboy Rob

My career with horses began at the age of 14 in Thoreau, New Mexico. My first day on the job I was tossed a rope and instructed to ‘get’ 7 horses that I were to train that summer to wrangle cattle. I asked, “Which seven?” My boss answered, “Any ones that you can catch.” I learned quickly that there was no other life for me than with horses and in the saddle.

Over the years I have grabbed at every opportunity to follow my passion. I have been a trail guide for tourists, and a ranch foreman. From 1960 till 1966 I was a roper on the rodeo circuit and from 2000 to 2012 competed in team penning and cattle sorting. During this time I also taught kids how to ride. I continue to participate in Spring and Fall cattle drives in Arizona and Colorado.

For the past 3 summers I have worked with the campers and private students at Adamsville Stables. Stephanie calls me her ‘secret weapon’. I love being a part of life at Adamsville stables. I love sharing my knowledge of horses with students like a grandfather would share stories with their grandchildren. I live in South Dartmouth with my wife Beth.
